Invalid PIN

Try typing in your PIN again. It's possible you got one of the numbers wrong. If it still says “invalid”, it’s possible that Flash Group did not generate this PIN, which means that it cannot be redeemed on 1Voucher platforms. Want to investigate further? Contact our Call Centre on 086 169 3333.

My 1Voucher is not working. What do I do?

  • Use it to top up the balance of your 1ForYou wallet on the 1ForYou app, and then use that balance to pay for/buy something on the app.
  • Use it towards a purchase at your local spaza shop where you see the green and black Flash cow sign.

What is the length of the 1Voucher PIN?

A 1Voucher PIN contains 16 digits.

What is the maximum and minimum amount I can buy?
  • At a Flash trader: R1 - R1500 (any amount).
  • At Pep and Ackermans stores: R20 - R200 (set amount).
  • At Shoprite stores: R5 and upwards (any amount).
  • On the 1Voucher website: R50 and upwards (any amount).
  • At JD Group stores R50 – R2500.
  • With TymeBank, Momo and Nedbank: R50 and upwards (any amount).

How long is my 1Voucher valid for?

A 1Voucher PIN is valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. A good way of making sure you don’t lose it, is to write it down in safe place or snap a pic of it with your phone as a backup.

I have a lot of small vouchers left. How can I use them?

You can load them all into the 1ForYou app and transact from there. It’s a smart and easy way to store your cash and voucher balances online, all in one place, safely.

How do I use my 1Voucher?

Present the 16-digit PIN, displayed on your slip or on your 1ForYou app for payment.

I don’t want my voucher anymore, how do I get a refund?

1Vouchers are non-refundable, you can load the voucher into your 1ForYou app and transact from there.

I bought a 1Voucher via the 1Voucher website, but I didn’t receive my SMS or email with the voucher number, what should I do?

I bought a 1Voucher via TymeBank, but I didn’t get my voucher number, what should I do?

If this happens, please  contact TymeBank on 086 099 9119.

What happens when I don’t use the entire value of my voucher?

A change voucher will be issued (to the person who bought the voucher) via SMS, or via the partner’s platform.

Can I get a refund if I buy an item using a 1Voucher and return the item later?

It all depends on where you used your voucher. Each redemption partner has their own terms and conditions when it comes to returns. Check their T’s & C’s (usually available on their website).

I didn’t receive my change voucher. Who do I contact?

You will have to contact the partner/merchant where the voucher was redeemed.

What happens when I don’t use the entire value of my voucher?

A change voucher will be issued to the customer via SMS or via the partner’s platform.

I redeemed my voucher on a betting site, but the value is not reflecting on my betting account.

Please contact the partner directly for help. The partner will escalate the matter further if they need our help in order to resolve the issue.

How do I buy goods from a Flash spaza shop using a 1Voucher?
  1. If you are using the 1ForYou app, generate a 1Voucher to the exact amount of the goods you are buying, then give the PIN number to the cashier or spaza shop owner.
  1. If you have a physical 1Voucher, the value of the voucher will be displayed on the slip. Choose your goods to that value and then present the voucher to the spaza shop cashier or owner and they will enter it into the machine.
What happens when I don’t use the entire value of my 1Voucher?
  • Partial redemptions are not possible on Flash machines. Make sure to buy goods to the full value of your 1Voucher if spending it at a Flash shop.
  • To make sure you don’t need to get change, pick your items first, calculate the amount, and then, if you are using the 1forYou app, generate a 1Voucher to the exact amount of your chosen items.
  • If you have a 1Voucher on a slip, you will not get change if you buy for less than the full value of the voucher. See above for tips on how to avoid needing change.  
  • To avoid losing money, first download and register on the 1ForYou app, load your physical/paper 1Vouchers into the app, then generate a 1Voucher for the exact amount of the goods you want to buy.
Can I get a refund if I buy an item using a 1Voucher and return the item later?

You might be able to. It is up to the Spaza shop owner to allow or deny returns and refunds. Ask him or her.

What type of phone do I need to use the 1ForYou app?
  • Any Android device that supports Android OS V.6 (Marshmellow) and up can run the 1ForYou app.
  • Any iOS device supporting V.13 and up can run the 1ForYou app.
What information do I need to register on and use the 1ForYou app?

You’ll need to supply your name, email address, and cell phone number. You’ll also have to create a 5-digit PIN number which you will use to log into the app and authorise transactions.

What is 1Voucher?

Do I have to be a South African resident (have an SA ID) to use the app?

No, we’re for everyone! You only need a South African cell phone number to register and use the app.

No. You will not be charged for using or transacting on the 1ForYou app.

Is the 1ForYou app free and how much does it cost to download?

Yes, the 1ForYou app is free to download and use, but standard data charges apply when downloading and using the app.

What makes the 1ForYou app different to a banking app?
  • It’s totally free! There are no transaction fees, SMS charges, or hidden costs.  
  • You don’t need an SA ID, a bank account, or card to use it. It’s for everyone!
  • You can top up your 1ForYou app balance/wallet with a 1Voucher.
If I put funds into my 1ForYou app can I withdraw them again?

Your 1ForYou app balance can’t be withdrawn as cash, but you can generate a 1Voucher and use towards your purchase at your local spaza shop, participating retailers or online partners.

How can I put money into my 1ForYou app?
  • Buy a 1Voucher online at 1voucher.co.za
  • Top up your 1ForYou app balance/wallet with an instant EFT (via Ozow) in the 1ForYou app (soon to be released to the app).
  • Buy a 1Voucher in-store (Flash Shops, Shoprite, Checkers, USave, PEP and other participating retailers)
  • Buy a 1Voucher from other websites and apps (TymeBank, Nedbank or MoMo).
  • Someone can transfer funds to you from their 1ForYou app.
Can my company pay my salary directly into the app?

No, not yet. But we’re working on it. Watch this space!

Can I send money to family overseas via the 1ForYou app?

Not yet. But we are working on expanding our world so we can expand yours!

How do I retrieve voucher PINs from the 1ForYou app?

To retrieve vouchers from the 1ForYou app, open your transaction history and you will see voucher details.

Follow the instructions in the app menu. You will be sent a reset password link via SMS.

How do I update my cell phone number on the 1ForYou app?

You will be able to update your cell phone number under Settings in your app menu.

I have a lot of small vouchers left. How can I use them?

You can load them all into the 1ForYou app and transact from there.

How do I generate a 1Voucher from my 1ForYou app?
  • Log in with your email address and 5-digit PIN number
  • Make sure you have balance in your wallet
  • Select Get PIN from the Menu
  • Enter the amount you wish to convert from balance to 1Voucher
  • Select Get 1Voucher PIN at the bottom of your screen

Can a trader do a reprint of a 1Voucher? 

Yes. Flash Traders are only allowed 1 reprint per day in the case of printer issues, network errors etc.

Why am I only allowed to reprint one voucher per day?

We are currently testing 1Voucher reprints and will review the number of times a voucher can be reprinted once the trial period is over.

How do I sell a 1Voucher from my Flash machine?

On the machine with buttons, select Flash Menu, select Vouchers/1Voucher, select 1Voucher, select Amount.

I sold a 1Voucher yesterday after 8pm, but my machine did not print out the voucher, what should I do to get the voucher number?
  • You can now reprint one transaction per day or contact us on the following day to get your voucher number.  
  • To reprint, select Flash Menu, select Reprint Slips, select Reprint by Reference Number or select Last Transaction.
I went to a retail store to buy a Flash voucher, but they gave me a 1Voucher instead, what should I do with the voucher?

You can go back to the store for further help or, on your device, go to Flash Menu, select Voucher/1Voucher, select 1Voucher, select Accept 1Voucher and type in your 1Voucher PIN. Check your trading balance as you will be charged a small redemption fee.

A customer wants to return goods he/she paid for using a 1Voucher
  • It is up to the trader whether to allow or deny refunds of goods bought in his/her shop.
  • If the trader allows a refund he/she has the right to refund the customer in whichever way he/she decides
How will I know if a 1Voucher PIN is valid or not?

You will get an error message if you try to accept an invalid PIN or a PIN that has already been redeemed.

What kinds of error messages could I receive?

An error message might be received if the customer’s PIN is invalid i.e. if the PIN has already been redeemed/used/spent elsewhere; or the PIN number may have been entered incorrectly into the Flash machine; etc.

How will I know what the value of the 1Voucher is?
  • If the customer is using their 1ForYou app, instruct the customer to generate a voucher to the exact amount of the goods they are buying.
  • If the customer has a physical 1Voucher, the value of the voucher will be displayed on the slip.
  • Once the voucher has been redeemed, you will be able to see the amount your Flash machine has been topped up with. To do this, go to your balance on your device and check the amount.
Can I reverse or cancel the purchase once I have accepted the payment?

Unfortunately not. We’d love to help but we can’t. Reversals and cancellations are not possible.

What are the fees for accepting a 1Voucher as a payment method?

A Payment Acceptance (transaction) fee of 2.5% will apply.

Who will be able to accept 1Voucher as a payment method?

All Flash traders nationwide can accept 1Voucher as a payment method. It is up to the trader to decide if they want to accept 1Voucher as a payment in their shop.

How do I give change if someone pays with a 1Voucher?
  • If a customer pays using their app, there won’t be a problem because they can generate a voucher for the exact amount of their purchased goods.
  • If a customer uses a physical 1Voucher to pay for their goods, they need to buy goods to the full value of that voucher.  
  • The trader can decide if they will issue change by issuing a new voucher as change

How do customers redeem a 1Voucher?

Customers will need to enter the 16-digit PIN to redeem it on your website or a cashier will need to enter it at your POS unit/system.

What are the access points for consumers to buy 1Vouchers which will bring them to my site?

  • Online at partner websites and apps (TymeBank, Nedbank or MoMo)
  • Available nationally across various formal retail stores (Shoprite, Checkers, USave, PEP, Ackermans, Russells and more).

How do the funds of sales made with a 1Voucher get settled into my bank account?

Settlement is automated via our systems and reconciled by our financial team to supply detailed reporting.

What is the frequency of settlement?

Automated settlements occur daily.

I went to a retail store to buy a Flash voucher, but they gave me 1Voucher instead, what should I do with the voucher?
  • You may go back to the store for further help, or go to Flash menu, select Accept 1Voucher and type in your voucher number.
  • Check your trading balance
  • You will be charged a small redemption fee.
  • On the Touch Go machine, select Flash menu, scroll down to Vouchers and click ok, select 1Voucher, select the amount.

How to avoid a scam.

Recognising these common signs of a scam could help you avoid falling for one

  1. S: Seems too good to be true
  2. C: Contacted out of the blue
  3. A: Asked for personal details
  4. M: Money or a PIN is requested.
  • Never share your 1Voucher pin
  • We will never ask you to pay a fee to get a job or learnership with us
  • If you need help with your 1Voucher, only ever share your reference or serial number.
  • There are some unofficial sites selling 1Voucher. If you are unsure, check 1voucher.co.za for legit distributors.
